Mrs Hinch fans are sharing simple hack to get rid of flies during the heatwave – and it costs just 10p

WITH the heatwave sweeping across the nation, it's likely you've left your windows and doors open to get a bit of a breeze.

But unfortunately, that's probably not the only thing that's entering into your house...as pesky flies seem to enjoy the warmer temperatures just as much as the rest of us.

As reported by The Express, the initial post that sparked the conversation read: “Help! Flies!

"I've moved into a house with a glass-roofed conservatory/extension, it's our first summer here so no previous experience but I'm getting sooooo many flies in and quite a few huge bees."

And the woman wasn't short of answers, with the most popular answer suggesting that all you need is some water, coins and a sealable bag.

"Put a few pennies in a clear bag in water and hang it up.. (you need to change the water every now and then though)," advised one.

"Flies and wasps think it’s a wasps nest and stay away!"

"I did this today, I hung it in the centre of the french doors into the conservatory, I’ve only seen one fly today, well worth a try!"

A second penned: "I put a copper coin on the window sill/door tread of all open doors.

"No idea why it works but it definitely does!"

A third agreed: "I do this and it does work.

"Have to hang them in every window though."

So does the trick actually work and what's the science behind it?

"The water and the pennies create a prism that reflects colours, and also projects the image of the water," one mum explained.
