Gracias to the Sentinel for highlighting Senderos cultural events — three weekends of music, dance and food featuring local youth performers and student musicians from Oaxaca.
Thank you to Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks, California State Parks for Music in the Mission; the MAH and Santa Cruz City Arts for Cooper Street Fiesta. Our 13th annual Vive Oaxaca Guelaguetza filled San Lorenzo Park with 4,500-plus diverse attendees enjoying a family-friendly cultural festival. Thank you to Santa Cruz city and county, Santa Cruz City Schools, County Office of Education, Arts Council, Community Foundation, Ow Family Properties, Kaiser Permanente, Mexican Consulate, ACTA, UCSC student organizations, local businesses and community organizations. We appreciate all the positive support to bring to the surface the cultural richness and strengths that are often invisible and not always valued. These events increase pride in underrepresented communities, especially in these times of uncertainty, and bring joy to the entire community.

The Sentinel welcomes your letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no more than 150 words. We do not accept anonymous letters. Letter-writers should include their full name as well as a street address and telephone number. We don’t publish those details in the newspaper, but need the information for verification purposes. Occasionally, we reject letters simply because we’ve had so many on the same subject. Submit your letters online at santacruzsentinel.com/submit-letters.
